Chapter 22

Revelation 22:1 "And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. 6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done."

Eternity

22:1 - The water of life is a river in Eternity that flows from the throne of God, down alongside the street and the trees near the river will have their roots in it (Revelation 22:17, John 4:14).

22:2 - There are trees called the Tree of Life in Eternity that heals the saved Gentile nations (Ezekiel 47:12, Revelation 21:14, 24). They will come through twelve gates (Deut. 32:7-9). The Gentile nations will be separated into twelve nations like the Jewish nations and there are twelve months in a year (Job 14:1-5, Acts 17:24-27). The twelve nations are probably 1. North America 2. Central America 3. South America 4. Antarctic Continent 5. Arctic Circle 6. Asia 7. Africa 8. Australia 9. West Indies 10. East Indies 11. Greenland 12. Europe. When these people take the Tree of Life, they receive eternal life and most likely their offspring will also. These people partaking of the Tree of Life are the Tribulation and Millennium saints. The Church Age saints already have eternal life and glorified bodies, so they do not need to partake of it. These Tribulation and Millennium saints have male and female bodies, so they will populate outer space. The Church Age saints have a body like Christ, so they do not marry in Eternity.

22:3-5 - This reign starts in the Millennium and goes into Eternity (Daniel 17:14,18). The "they" in verse 5 probably refers to the Church Age saints in the city and the Tribulation saints because of the mark on their forehead (Revelation 14:1). There is no sun or moon in the city of New Jerusalem, but the sun and moon is still there for the new earth (Psalms 89:29-37). In verse 3, you see that the Adamic curse is removed in Eternity. Also, in verse 3 it says that we will serve Jesus. Serving might include transporting and communicating with the Tribulation and Millennium saints in out space.

22:6 - Shortly be done refers to someone in the Tribulation.

Revelation 22:7 "Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. 8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. 10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."

Final exhortations about the book of Revelation

22:7 - The book is the book of Revelation. It can be practically applied to the Bible.

22:8-9 - The angel might be Daniel(Daniel 12:4-13) because in the resurrection the saints are as angels (Matthew 22:30). Remember where Daniel messed up and allowed the king to bow before him. This angel is careful not to let that happen again, so it could be Daniel. Obey the last two words of verse 9, "worship God". Cross reference for verse 8: Revelation 21:9

22:10 - The book is book of Revelation. "The time is at hand" refers to the Lord's coming (Revelation 22:7,12,20). Cross reference: Mark 1:10

22:11 - "Still" here means "the same condition". Whatever condition a person is in when the Lord comes, that will be his condition forever. The time to turn to Jesus is before He comes back.

22:12 - This could be applied to a Tribulation saint waiting on the Second Advent or a Church Age saint waiting on the Judgment Seat of Christ. Cross references: Isaiah 40:10, 62:11

22:13 - Cross reference: Isaiah 44:6

22:14 - Cross references: Revelation 21:24 and Hebrews 1:14

22:15 - Dogs is a reference to actual people (2 Peter 2:22).

Revelation 22:16 "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."

A final invitation, warning, prayer and promise

22:16 - Jesus is the Morning Star, not Satan like the new versions say. The Morning star is the sun that comes up in the morning (Malachi 4:2). Cross reference: Revelation 1:4,11

22:17 - This could be applied to a person in the Church Age because it is a faith alone invitation. The word "freely" here was revised in Genesis 3:2 by Eve (Genesis 2:16).

22:18 - This is a reference to the book of Revelation, but could be practically applied to the Bible (Deut. 4:2, Proverbs 30:6). Notice God warns about taking away from His words in three places, at the beginning, middle and end of the Bible. Any other book that claims to be the word of God goes against these three verses, including the new versions and other religious books.

22:19 - No one should change one word of the King James Bible or book of Revelation, even though we have Eternal Salvation today.

22:20 - "Amen" means "that's so".

22:21 - A cross reference to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is found in 2 Cor. 8:9. This is a reminded that salvation is by the grace of Jesus Christ.

Chapter 21

Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Final Restoration of Creation

21:1 - The sea here is the sea of glass, the deep talked about in Revelation 4 (Job 37:30, Job 41:31-33). Cross references: Isaiah 65:17, 66:22, 2 Peter 3:6

21:2 - New Jerusalem/Holy Jerusalem is for the Church, who is the Bride of Christ (Revelation 21:9-10, Galatians 4:26). The Father's Bride is Israel (Hosea 2:14-23). The new earth is for the Jews (Genesis 17:8, 8:21; Psalms 24:7, Isaiah 66:22-23, 9:6-7) and the new heaven is for the Gentiles.

21:3 - There may be a tabernacle on the earth for the Jews in eternity, but there is not a tabernacle in New Jerusalem for the Church Age saints (Revelation 21:22). Cross references: Ezekiel 37:27 and Leviticus 26:11

21:4-5 - Notice that the words a true and faithful, not figurative or symbolic. Cross references: Psalms 56:8, John 14:2, Revelation 19:9

21:6 - Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last letter. Christ is every letter in the alphabet. The invention is Church Age invitation, we know this because He is talking about New Jerusalem where the Christians go. The word freely is also found in Genesis 3:2. Cross reference: John 4:13-14, Revelation 1:8, 22:13, Romans 5:15

21:7 - This is a Tribulation overcomer (Revelation 2-3). Christians have already overcome because they are in Jesus Christ (1 John 4:4, 5:4).

21:8 - This is a literal Lake of Fire that burns forever. The fearful are the people that fear man rather than God (Proverbs 29:25, Matthew 10:28, 11:18; John 9:22, Hebrews 13:6). It is true that a lot of saved people commit some of these sins, but when a Church Age saint is saved, his body is cut away from his soul, therefore he is not any of these sins (Romans 6:2, Philippians 3:21, Romans 7:17). The unbelieving is found in John 16:9.

Revelation 21:9 "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof."

A description of New Jerusalem

21:9 - The Church is the Lamb's wife and is no longer engaged, but married (2 Cor. 11:2, Revelation 19:7). The Bride is likened unto a city.

21:10 - New Jerusalem does not land on earth, but hovers right above it. The city does not need the sun or moon for light, but both are still there giving light to the earth and measuring time (Revelation 21:23, Psalms 89:36-37).

21:11 - Jasper deals with carbon, which is involved with living things, hence this is a living city. The jasper is a diamond and the city will be clear as crystal that sparkles.

21:12-14 - The city's foundations are Peter, James, John and etc. Angels will be at the gates named after the twelve Jewish tribes.

21:15-16 - The city is 1,200 miles long, 1,200 miles wide and 1,200 miles high. Cross reference: John 14:2

21:17 - This shows that angels are 33 year old males without wings (Genesis 6:1-16, Genesis 18:1-22, 19:1-26; Judges 13:1-13, Galatians 4:14, Luke 24:3-6, 23).

21:18 - The city is pure gold, so pure that it looks clear as glass. The city also shines with the light of a jasper diamond.

21:19-20 - These twelve stones match the stones on the breastplate in the Old Testament with each stone matching one of the twelve tribes. 1. Emerald, green, Judah. 2. Sapphire, blue, Simeon. 3. Sardonyx, red and white, Dan. 4. Chalcedony, white translucent, Levi. 5. Topaz, light yellow/orange, Issachar. 6. Chrysolite, gold, Gad. 7. Beryl, frozen fire, Asher. 8. Sardius, brownish-red, Naphtali. 9. Jacinth, dusky red, Joseph. 10. Amethyst, light purple, Benjamin. 11. Crysoprasus, golden green, Zebulun. 12. Jasper, transparent crystal, Reuben.

21:21 - In New Jerusalem we will walk on gold, the thing we fight for today. The gates are pearl.

21:22-23 - There will be no temples in New Jerusalem. The glory of God and the Lamb is the light for the city, so there is no need for the sun and moon, even though they do light the new earth maybe.

Revelation 21:24 "And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

Salvation of the Gentiles nations in Eternity

21:24 - The nations that are saved in the Tribulation and Millennium do not have eternal life, so they have dying bodies. If there name is in the Book of Life at the White Throne Judgment then they and their children can partake of the Tree of Life, so they can live forever (Revelation 20:13). The phrase "kings of the earth" show that there will be fleshy bodies in Eternity (Isaiah 66:22-24). Cross references: Psalms 68:29, 26:2, 2 Chronicles 23:19.

21:25-26 - This is talking about Eternity.

21:27 - Nothing unclean can go into the city. Every Christian is clean because he is already written in the Book of Life and already has eternal life (Philippians 4:3, 1 John 5:12). The reference here is to the Tribulation and Millennium people that come into the city to get eternal life from the Tree of Life (Revelation 22:14). They obtain what was forbidden to Adam in Genesis 3:22-24.

Chapter 20

Revelation 20:1 "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

Millennium reign of Jesus

20:1 - The bottomless pit is Hell (Revelation 9:1). The chain is a literal, spiritual chain (2 Peter 2:4).

20:2 - Notice that the expression "thousand years" occurs 6 times in this chapter in verse 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. This shows that there will be 6 thousand years before the the Devil is bound in Hell (2 Peter 3:8). The earth will be here 7 thousand years with the last thousand years being a thousand years of rest (Isaiah 14:7, 12-18, Genesis 2:1-2, Hebrews 4:4, 9-10). This is a literal one thousand years in the verse.

20:3 - This is the Millennial rest (Genesis 2:1-3, Hosea 6:2, Hebrews 4:9, John 16:16). The Devil and devils will not be on this earth during the Millennium, but the fallen nature of man will still be here. This is why when Satan is released he finds followers in the final battle (Isaiah 26:9-10). During the Millennium nature will be restored and the Jews will be back in Palestine (Matthew 19:28, Isaiah 11:1-11, Ezekiel 44-48). Cross reference: 2 Peter 3:8

20:4 - This shows that the Church Age Twelve Apostles and Tribulation saints will reign with Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:27-30, Matthew 8:11, Romans 8:17, 2 Timothy 2:12). The Church age saints have to bear their cross to reign though (Revelation 5:10, 1:6).

20:5 - The first resurrection is a physical resurrection and is not the spiritual resurrection of the believer. There are two resurrections (Daniel 12:2, 2 Timothy 4:1, Acts 24:15). One is a resurrection of the dead and one is a resurrection from the dead (Mark 9:9-10, Luke 20:35). The first resurrection contains the Old Testament saints(first fruits), Church saints(harvest) and Tribulation saints(gleanings). The other resurrection is for the lost that goes to the Lake of Fire. Cross references: John 5:29, 11:25

20:6 - These reign as sinless priests for one thousand years (Revelation 5:10). No saved person will be effected by the Second Death (Luke 20:36).

Revelation 20:7 "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

The Millennium ends in apostasy

20:7 - After the thousand years, Satan finds followers. In the Millennium, salvation is by works alone because everyone sees Jesus Christ, which does not take faith.

20:8 - The people that go against Jesus at the end were only obeying because they were under a military dictatorship. These people are people that are left over from the Tribulation that did not take the Mark of the Beast, but did not get saved (Zechariah 14:16-19). Some of them are the people that helped the Jews in the Tribulation that did not take the Mark of the Beast (Matthew 25:34-46). Some of them are children born in the Millennium that have the old nature (Isaiah 65:20) and remember people will live longer in the Millennium. Cross references: Ezekiel 38:2,5,11

20:9 - Here Jesus' enemies are destroyed by fire and the earth and heavens are burned up (2 Peter 3:7,10-13). After that there will be a new heavens and earth (Isaiah 66:22). Cross references: Psalms 101:8, Isaiah 52:1

20:10 - Here we see that the Beast and False Prophet are still burning after one thousand years when Satan is also cast into the Lake of Fire to burn forever.

Revelation 20:11 "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Great White Throne Judgment

20:11 - This is the last judgment where the unsaved and fallen angels are judged by God (Daniel 7:9-10, Proverbs 20:8).

20:12 - These are saved people from the Tribulation(faith&works) and Millennium(works) also (Revelation 11:17-18). Both are saved according to their works. The Church Age saint is not judged here because his name cannot be taken out of the Book of Life. The Church age help God judged the unsaved (1 Cor. 6:2). The Book of Life may be the Bible and the names are found in Hebrew. Cross references: Daniel 7:9-10, Exodus 32:33, Malachi 3:16

20:13 - The sea is referring to the fallen angels that died in Noah's flood (1 Peter 3). It could also be talking about devils (Genesis 1:1-4). Hell is all the unsaved dead. Death is shows the saved dead in the Tribulation and Millennium. Tribulation saints may die in the Millennium because unlike the Church Age saint, they are not said to get glorified bodies, nor do the Millennium saints. In eternity, the Tribulation and Millennium saints go to the Tree of Life to prevent dying (Revelation 22:14). Cross references: Ezekiel 21:24, Proverbs 12:14, Romans 2:16, 1 Chron. 28:9, Psalms 139:1-4

20:14 - This is the end of Hell because everyone in Hell is thrown into the Lake of Fire after going to the White Throne Judgment. The Second Death is when death and hell go to the Lake of Fire to burn forever.

20:15 - The unsaved dead's souls might lose their shape in the Lake of Fire. Their soul might take the form of a worm, getting a body like their father, the serpent (Isaiah 34:6-17, 13:19-22, 35:7, Ezekiel 20:47-49, Isaiah 66:24). Again as Church age saints, we will not be judged here, rather we are judging with God. The ones who need their name in the Book of Life are the Tribulation saints and Millennium saints. Once a Church Age saint is saved, his name is forever in the Book of Life and cannot be blotted out like the Tribulation and Millennium saints that have works in their salvation. Cross references: Matthew 10:28, 25:41, Daniel 12:2, Revelation 21:8, 22:15
